My Button Bracelets....

I wanted to take a few minutes to show you some of the button bracelets that I make for myself, family and friends.  I am also thinking of opening an Etsy shop to sell them there as well as some other crafts that I do in conjunction with my bracelets.

One of the things that I absolutely crave and covet would be vintage buttons.  It is a somewhat recent obsession that I developed.  I never really thought too much about buttons when  was younger, but what started me on my quest for the most beautiful buttons would be an old Ball jar filled with buttons that my grandmother used and saved for many, many years.  After she died in 1981, my mother got the jar full of buttons and has always had it sitting out ~ partly for decoration and partly for remembrance.  After awhile I decided that I wanted that jar badly, but my mother has yet to give it up.  So, I found a way to some "old" buttons of my own for decorating purposes, of course.

But, when I found an old Ball jar full of old buttons in an architectural surplus store (with all types of goodies that were vintage and cracked and dented and rusted ~~ obviously, if your anything like me, you would have felt you were in HEAVEN!), I never realized that I would find myself obsessed with buttons.  All shapes, styles, vintages, etc.  Now I have a converted drafting-type cupboard/drawers that are full of buttons.  I have them separated by color and  by type; i.e., metal, glass, plastic, mother of pearl, metal, porcelain, etc.  (Please don't tell my hubby, but there are thousands of dollars of buttons.

I also look for and destroy antique typewriters that have the metal ring alpha keys.  It can be a chore to get them off the typewriter (my hands have paid the price on many occasions), but they make the best word bracelets.  I plan on making necklaces from these alpha keys too!  Anyway, here are some of my recent creations.  Let me know what you think.

I hope you all like these as much as I do.  Let me know.  Also, if you are interested in purchasing a bracelet, let me know and you can pick out any color, type, etc.

Thanks, Missy
